Tie-Dye Change

Just a reminder. The tie-dye lab has been changed from Friday, May 14th to Monday, May 17th due to cold weather being forecast for Friday. If you did not order a t-shirt, make sure to bring something to dye if you want.

AP Chemistry T-Shirts

The cost of the AP Chemistry t-shirt will be $6.00. I will be placing the order for the t-shirts at the end of the day, Friday, May 7th, 2010. A form will be passed out in class on Wednesday, May 5th, 2010. Please fill out the form and attach $6.00 (cash only please) to the form with a rubber band or paper clip. If I do not have a form and money from you by Friday, May 5th, 2010, you will not be able to order a t-shirt. A copy of the form is below if you wish to print it off at home.

Also, I still have not received any submissions for an idea about the back of the t-shirt. Please get them into me as soon as possible.

AP Chemistry Problems 2002 #2 and 2005 (Form B) #2

Below are the solutions for year 2002 #2 and 2005 (Form B) #2.




Correction to year 2000 #2 b iii)

In the solution to the AP Chemistry test for year 2000, question 2 b iii) the potential was listed as (-0.68 V). This is for the oxidation. The questions asks for the reduction potential, therefore a value of (+0.68 V) should have been reported. The solution to the problem was posted on Monday, 5/3. Sorry about the mix up.

AP Chemistry Test Review Session Reminders

There will be one more multiple choice practice exam given. It is the 1999 muliple choice test and it can be taken at one of the following times:
  • Thursday, May 6th - 7:00 to 9:00 pm
  • Friday, May 7th - 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Saturday, May 8th - 8:30 am to 10:30 am
Also, in addition to the regular Friday morning review session, there will be another offered (only attend one) from 2:30 - 3:15 pm on Wednesday, May 5th. This is for those that have an AP test on Friday or those that just want to come after school instead of before school.

The chapter 16 quiz will be another past AP problem. The quiz will be quantative, so you will be using a calculator and you will have your equations available to you.

They were given on the portion of the written exam that does not allow calculators or equations. Question 2004 allows the use of a calculator and the equations sheet.

AP Chemistry Class T-Shirt

Please submit your ideas for what to put on the AP Chemistry class T-shirt for the 2009-2010 school year. This will be put on the back of the T-shirt. Please keep it clean and try to incorporate something from the class in the slogan.

Information will be coming later on cost. The shirts will be white, cotton so they can be tie-dyed. We will tie-dye the Friday after the AP Chemistry test

THIS FRIDAY IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EARLY MORNING STUDY SESSIONS! Chemical reactions will be reviewed. This is another guarantee on the AP Chemistry test. You will be asked to write out three chemical reactions from information given and explain concepts related to the reactions.

Times for the first multiple choice practice exam:
Thursday, 4/22 - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Friday, 4/23 - 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Saturday, 4/24 - 8:30 am to 10:30 am

You will have 90 minutes to take the exam and then the last 30 minutes will be used to correct the exam. You will be able to check out a copy of the exam and a solutions guide. You must return this exam after the AP Chemistry test.

When finding a pH from hydrogen ion concentration or pOH from hydroxide ion concentration, the number of significant figures in the concentration is how many decimal places can be allowed in the pH or pOH value.

NO CLASS THE REST OF CSAP WEEK!!

Remember, AP Chemistry will not be meeting after Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 until the following week. We will not meet during the designated time for AP Chemistry the morning of Thursday, March 11th. Also, there will be no early meeting for the AP Chemistry test review this week.
